Ben Hunt (6 June 1978) is an Australian basketballer who played in the National Basketball League for the Perth Wildcats for two seasons, from 2006-2008.〔( "Ben keen to stay a Wildcat", ''Bendigo Advertiser'', 25 March 2008. )〕〔( North Hills Prep page )〕 Born in Bendigo, Victoria, Hunt played his junior and senior college basketball seasons in the United States at Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth, Texas. He led the Texan Wesleyan Rams to the 2006 US National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics D1 championship, making the winning shot for the Rams in the title game. Hunt started in 32 of 34 games his senior year and led the team in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game including 119 three-pointers with a record 90.8% shooting average from the free throw line. In 2004-05 was named First-Team All-Red River Athletic Conference starting all 32 games and logged a team-high 34.9 minutes per game. Hunt was ranked second on the team with 17.5 points per game and 100 3-pointers while setting a school record with 90.7% shooting from the free throw line, scoring in double-figures in all but two contests including the final 28 games in succession. Hunt made at least one three-pointer in each of his last 20 contests. 2005 Hunt captained the World University Summer Games Universiade Men's Australian Basketball team in Izmir, Turkey. Top-scored against the USA Men's team with 28 points and a team high 26 points against Greece. Played the 2003-04 SEABL season with the Ballarat Miners in the ABA. Was a two-year letterwinner for the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks (NCAA D1) in 2001-2003. Helped lead the Lumberjacks to a 21-8 record and runner-up finish in the Southland Conference his sophomore season. Averaged 8.5 points a game and shot .358 (44-123) from the three-point line his freshman season. Scored 24 points vs. Louisiana-Monroe and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-4 from behind the arc his freshman season. Played for the Bendigo Braves in the SEABL from 1994–2001 U/23 ABA South Conference and National Youth Player of the Year in 2000 2000 and 2001 SEABL All-South Conference Team Played at Bendigo Senior Secondary College and helped lead the team to an 18-4 record and a National Schools Basketball Championship in his senior season in 1996. He became a Junior Varsity and Varsity coach for basketball at Uplift North Hills Preparatory in Irving, Texas.
